I love a good challenge, so when Liesl asked me to photograph her Mulled wine, I was all in! It’s a bit different from what I usually do, but I really enjoy stepping outside my comfort zone.

We wanted to create a relaxed vibe, perfect for enjoying mulled wine on a hot summer day by the pool while getting some nice “still life photography”  and fun videos, locally here on the Central Coast.

 

Setting the Scene

We started by setting up for outdoor studio photography with some props and decorations to give that  Christmas time feeling…It was such beautiful light at our outdoor studio and perfect for some headshots of Liesl and  mixed it up with  her mulled wine Sangria.

 

 

 

After the still life shots/ portraits, we moved to the pool area at a beautiful Avoca beach home here on the Central Coast.  The sun came out for us and our model could relax at the pool area, enjoying a cocktail of Mulled wine.  At the end we got her to  jumped in the pool …with her son too.  Those videos were the funniest… Being spontaneous sometimes works out to be the best..

 

 

The Magic of Mulled Wine

Mulled wine, or “glögg” in Sweden, is a must-have during Christmas time. It brings back great memories of our Swedish Christmas “FIKA” with mulled wine and gingerbread cookies…… The Swedish way to serve Mulled wine is in cute little cups with sultanas and almonds for that extra touch.

Serving Tips for Swedish Mulled Wine Sangria

If you want to add a twist to your mulled wine, try making a mulled wine Sangria! Here are some tips to help you create this festive drink at home:

• Mulled wine 
• Add a Splash of Spirits: For an extra kick, consider adding a splash of brandy or orange liqueur to enhance the flavours.
• Garnish with Extras: Serve with sultanas and blanched almonds. To easily remove the skins from almonds, just heat them in hot water. You can also throw in some fresh herbs like mint or rosemary for a lovely aroma.
• Serve in Style: Use large glasses or charming pitchers to serve your sangria and consider adding ice if you prefer it chilled.
• Create a Cozy Atmosphere: Light some candles, play soft music, and set up a comfy gathering spot to enjoy your mulled wine sangria with friends and family or at the Pool side on a hot summer day.
